The Mercedes-Benz R107 / C107 was a generation of the SL-Class that was introduced in 1971, replacing the W113 SL-Class. These cars were available in two body styles, convertible and coupe, with the convertible known as the R107 and designated SL, while the coupe is known as the C107 and designated SLC.

The R107 took the chassis components of the mid size Mercedes-Benz W114 model and mated them to the larger engines from the S-Class. Officially, the 1971-1989 Mercedes-Benz SL/C has never been coded W107 (W is for Wagen) like its sedan counterparts or even past SLs (W113 Pagoda or W198 I/II 300SL). But the MB community have adopted the W107 to simplify things. The official codes were R107 for the SL (R is for Roadster) and C107 for the SLC (C is for Coupe).
